Dr. Hossein Toghiani is a Professor in the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering and the Thomas B. Nusz Endowed Professor of Chemical Engineering at Mississippi State University.
He was selected five times as the Chemical Engineering “Professor of the Year” and also as the “Outstanding Graduate Professor” of the year.
In recognition of his outstanding educational contributions, Dr. Toghiani was inducted into the Bagley College of Engineering Academy of Distinguished Teachers. He was also the recipient of the Mississippi State University Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award.
Dr. Toghiani has been the principle or co-principle investigator of numerous projects sponsored by industry as well as the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, the US Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, the Ultralife Batteries, Inc., and the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
He has served as director or co-director of 15 M.S. theses and 9 Ph.D. dissertations, supervised 5 post-doctoral associates and authored more than 90 journal articles, 5 book chapters and 1 patent.
Dr. Toghiani holds expertise in the areas of multifunctional composites, graphene nanocomposite, hydrogen, methanol, and molten carbonate fuel cells, graphene production and anchoring nanoparticles on graphene for lithium ion battery applications, carbon-based nano-materials for catalysis, gasification, pyrolysis and concentrated acid hydrolysis of biomass, mono-,bi,- and multifunctional catalysts production for synthesis gas to methanol, higher alcohols and gasoline.
